Home Remodeling in Woodinville, WA
NorthLight Custom Builders helps Woodinville homeowners adapt the home they already have, whether that means making rooms more functional, adding space, or connecting indoor and outdoor living. Our remodeling, design-build, and construction team plans and builds the project from start to finish.
Adapting Your Woodinville Home as Your Needs Change
Woodinville is part of NorthLight’s Eastside service area, along with Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland. Founded in 2014 by master builder Tony Collins, NorthLight Custom Builders is a remodeling, design-build, and construction company working with homeowners across King and Snohomish Counties. See every community we cover on our Areas We Serve page.
A household’s needs can shift over time. You may need a home office, room for a parent or an adult child, more space for gatherings, or a better connection between the kitchen, the family room, and the deck. Remodeling lets you make those changes to the home you already have.
Our job is to work out which change will make the biggest difference, whether that is a better layout, an addition, an ADU, or an outdoor living space, and then design, price, and build it with one team. Those decisions are settled during pre-construction, so you sign a fixed-price Construction Agreement before construction begins.
Ways to Rework Your Woodinville Home
Start with what is not working. The services below can be combined into one plan, so an addition, a new kitchen layout, and a deck off the family room can be designed and scheduled together.
Additions
When a home is short on space, an addition can extend the kitchen, add a bedroom, or create a primary suite. We design it to tie into the existing house and review zoning and building code considerations during pre-construction.
Outdoor Living
Decks and outdoor living spaces can be planned with your interior work, so the rooms that open to the outside and the space beyond them are designed as one project.
Kitchen Remodeling
Function comes first: work areas, storage, counter space, and appliance placement planned around how your household uses the kitchen every day, with cabinetry, lighting, and finishes chosen alongside our design specialists.
Bathroom Remodeling
Bathrooms that work for the people using them now, whether that means more storage in a family bath, a better layout in a primary suite, or a shower that is easier to step into.
Whole-Home Remodeling
If several rooms need to change, we look at the house as a whole, including space conversions and opening up the floor plan, and plan the work as one project with one budget and schedule.
ADUs + DADUs
An attached ADU built as an addition, or a detached DADU on your property, can give relatives, adult children, a home office, or a rental its own space. Zoning and building code requirements for your property are part of the first conversations.
Aging in Place
Grab bars, non-slip flooring, adjusted counter heights, and level floor transitions that make a home easier to live in over time, designed to suit your style rather than look institutional.
Design-Build
One contract and one team. Our Pre-Construction team coordinates design, engineering, permitting, and scheduling, and you receive a fixed-price Construction Agreement before work starts.

How a Woodinville Remodel Comes Together
NorthLight uses the same four stages on every project: Develop → Design → Construct → Complete. When a remodel changes how a home functions, the early stages are where options get tested, such as whether an addition or a reconfigured layout will do more for your household.
Develop
Your first meeting covers what is and is not working in the house today, along with your budget, and ends with an estimate. Onsite visits and detailed measurements follow, leading to a layout that accounts for any wall, plumbing, or electrical changes.
Design
With the layout set, we check whether engineering, architectural input, or permits are needed, prepare concept layouts, and help you make selections. Exact trade partner quotes and three budget checks confirm the price in a fixed-price Construction Agreement.
Construct
A Lead Carpenter runs the jobsite and is there regularly, following a plan and schedule set at the start of construction. Buildertrend lets you check progress and send questions to your team.
Complete
Once the work is finished, we walk through it with you. The 12-month workmanship warranty starts at completion, and we reach out 10 to 11 months later to handle minor adjustments.

A Plan Built Around Function
Before anything is designed, our team asks practical questions: how many people will use a space, how they move through it, and what needs to fit. That focus on how a room will actually work is part of how NorthLight has remodeled homes since 2014.
One Team, One Contract
The same company designs, prices, and builds your remodel, and your Project Developer and Lead Carpenter stay with it through the final touches. See the NorthLight difference.

It depends on the house and what you need from it. During the Develop stage, our team measures, meets with you onsite, and looks at how you use each room. Sometimes a new layout or a space conversion solves the problem; other times the home needs more square footage. For additions, zoning and building code considerations are reviewed early so you can compare options with real information.
-
Yes. Space conversions are part of NorthLight’s whole-home remodeling work. We look at how the space is used today, what you need it to become, and whether walls, plumbing, or electrical need to change, then plan and price the conversion during pre-construction.
-
Yes. NorthLight designs and builds attached ADUs, which are built as an addition to your home, and detached DADUs, which are built as a separate structure on your property. Homeowners use them for family members, adult children moving back home, a home office, or rental use. Zoning and building codes play a big role, so we review them early.
-
Yes. Outdoor living projects such as decks can be planned alongside interior work, so the indoor rooms and the outdoor space are designed, budgeted, and scheduled together. Learn more about outdoor living.
-
Yes. NorthLight handles permitting and inspections. During pre-construction, the team determines whether permits, engineering, or architectural input are needed. Permit applications are submitted once your Construction Agreement is approved, or earlier during pre-construction when that helps avoid delaying your construction start.
-
Yes. Kitchen and bathroom refreshes and fixes for existing issues get the same attention to detail as larger remodels. NorthLight has a dedicated small-projects process and offers a Time & Materials contract, with a fixed-price agreement available if you prefer.
