Home Remodeling in Kirkland, WA
NorthLight gives Kirkland homeowners one team for design and construction. Kitchens, bathrooms, whole-home remodels, additions, and ADUs are designed, managed, and built by the same remodeling, design-build, and construction company.
One Team From First Sketch to Final Walkthrough
Kirkland is part of NorthLight’s established Eastside service area, which also includes Bellevue, Redmond, and Woodinville. NorthLight Custom Builders was founded in 2014 by master builder Tony Collins and serves homeowners across King and Snohomish Counties. See every community we cover on our Areas We Serve page.
On a remodel, the hand-off between the people who design it and the people who build it is where details can get lost. NorthLight avoids that hand-off. Our designers, Project Developers, and Lead Carpenters work on the same team, so the layout you approve is planned around how it will be built, and the people managing construction already know the project.
For you, that means a single contract, a single point of contact, and a fixed-price Construction Agreement before work begins.
Kitchens, Baths, and Larger Remodels in Kirkland
Here is how NorthLight approaches the remodeling projects we design and build, grouped by the kind of change you are planning.
Kitchens and Bathrooms
Kitchen remodeling can range from new cabinetry, countertops, and lighting to a reworked layout with relocated plumbing. Bathroom remodeling covers primary, guest, and family baths, planned around storage, tile, fixtures, and how each room is used. In both, our design specialists guide your selections and our construction team carries them out.
Whole-Home Remodels and Additions
A whole-home remodel coordinates changes across several rooms, such as opening up a floor plan, as one project with one schedule. When a home needs more square footage, an addition can extend a kitchen or add a bedroom or primary suite, designed to connect naturally with the existing house.
ADUs and DADUs
Whether it is attached to the house or built as a separate structure, an ADU or DADU is designed and built by the same NorthLight team that manages its construction, for uses such as family members, a home office, or a rental. Zoning and building code requirements for your property are checked early in pre-construction.
Aging in Place and Outdoor Living
Aging-in-place updates such as zero-threshold showers and wider doorways can be built into any remodel, and outdoor living projects such as decks can be planned alongside interior work.
Design-Build Project Management
Every project runs through NorthLight’s design-build process, with a Pre-Construction team coordinating design, engineering, permitting, and scheduling before construction starts.

How Design and Construction Stay Connected
The four stages below, Develop → Design → Construct → Complete, are how NorthLight keeps design decisions and construction management connected from start to finish.
Develop
After an introductory meeting and estimate, your team measures the space, meets with you onsite, and settles the layout, including any changes to walls, plumbing, or electrical.
Design
Concept layouts, selections, and any engineering, architectural, or permit needs are worked out next. Exact trade partner quotes and three budget checks produce a fixed-price Construction Agreement.
Construct
You meet your Lead Carpenter before work begins. A plan and schedule are set at the start of construction and updated regularly, and Buildertrend keeps the timeline, updates, and your questions in one place.
Complete
A final walkthrough confirms the project meets your standards and ours. Your 12-month workmanship warranty begins at completion.
