The NorthLight Remodeling Process

Every NorthLight remodel follows the same five-step process. The goal is to plan every detail before construction starts, so your project stays within budget and surprises are kept to a minimum.

Step 1: Let’s Talk About Your Project

We start by listening. In your initial consultation, we learn about your goals, how you use your home, and the reasons behind your remodel. We also look into local zoning and building code considerations that may affect projects such as additions, ADUs, and DADUs, and we discuss a preliminary estimate to make sure we can work within your budget.

Step 2: Pre-Construction Services Agreement

Next, we present a Pre-Construction Services Agreement. Its purpose is to plan every detail of your project and provide you with a fixed-price Construction Agreement at the end of the process. You will work side by side with a NorthLight Project Developer, Design Specialist, and Sales team member to define the layout, materials, and finishes.

Step 3: Pre-Construction Planning

We take precise measurements, gather exact quotes from trade partners such as electricians and plumbers, and help you choose finishes and fixtures. Our design specialists can even meet you at the store. Once your selections are made, we can create a project rendering so you can see your new space before construction begins.

Step 4: Construction

Before construction starts, you will meet your Project Developer and Lead Carpenter, who stay with your project from the beginning through the final touches. NorthLight handles permitting and inspections, so you do not have to manage the paperwork.

Step 5: Final Walkthrough and Warranty

When construction is complete, we walk through the finished project with you and schedule a warranty follow-up on our workmanship.
